(Marching) Band is...
Marching out on the track, rain or shine
Keeping your chin up and staying in line
Holding your flute parallel to the ground
Hitting the drums, listening to the sound
Yelling your face off at each football game
Defending the band when your friends call it lame
Drawing the drum majors up on the board
Spinning down hallways when everyone's bored
Wearing the hats and the shiny black shoes
Being hit by a trombone and getting a bruise
Shoving the fluffy feathers into your hat
Being able to tell if your instrument's flat
Leaving lunch early to go off to Band
Fighting over who puts away the music stand
Memorizing songs and marching around
Wondering if you will ever sit down
Playing songs, trying to find the right beat
Wondering why you have sores on your feet
Gaming with band friends (especially Brawl)
Remembering the whistles and all the band calls
Knowing that your band is number one...
But most of all, Band is just having fun.

During the marching band season everything is magical.

You couldnt imagine how things could get any greater. The bond that you have is as strong as it could ever be. Everything is wonderful.
Then practices become shorter to get you ready for the inevitable: school hour pra

Oh, I beg to differ.
What makes Marching Band so different?
Some say it doesn't match the definition of sports.
Really?
Well let's see what the definition is.
Sports: An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of
rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. An active pastime;
recreation.
So... the way I see it,
marching band is no different from a sport
The Marching band uses maybe
twice the physical exertion then a lot of other sports.
Sure football players get tackled while running up and down the field;
swimmers swim so many laps they feel as though the

Hahaha! The "fighting over who puts the stand away"is soooo true. It took me and my friend in the same section 3/4 of the school year before we finally reached a compromise- she gets the music and stand and puts them away, I get the instruments.
